Our first stop in the Caribbean was Sint Maarten. We spent over one month here and had the chance to discover and explore what the island had to offer. So here are our most Instagrammable spots of the island Sint Maarten/Saint Martin.
Maho Beach
This is the place you would have seen countless images of (possibly the reason we never took one for ourselves). If you want to be right in the action and don’t mind getting blasted by sand then go here. A must see and experience. Join the hundreds of tourists standing in the jet blast of the planes taking off or simply sip on that delicious cocktail watching the sunset at the beautiful Sunset Beach Bar.
Loterie Farm
Nestled amongst the trees and mountains this hidden gem will blow you away. If you are looking for action but also relaxing then make a stop here.
There is a pool, restaurant, bar, hiking and ziplining. However, it doesn’t end here as they regularly host events with DJ’s performing up in the trees making this an excellent location for an afternoon of partying. You can rent private cabanas for up to 10 people including that important Rose wine for $190. Or simply go for a day ticket with a cost of $20.
Orient Bay
The perfect location for sun, sand, kitesurfing, food, drink and for the more adventurous a bit of nudity. This spot is the only official nude area in St Martin so be prepared. (as Scott accidentally found out…)
Let’s get back to the beach. There are numerous places scattered all around which all serve great food & cocktails.
For kitesurfing this is also the place to be. With Easterly winds off the Atlantic you will always find someone out on the water.
Happy Bay
Hidden down by an abandoned villa resort. This slice of paradise is the place to go if you want to get off the grid and have some privacy away from the tourists.
You will park by a locked gate and take the small walking track through the bushes. After roughly 15 minutes you will find the coastline. Once you see a huge statue and a sign stating ‘Be Happy’, you will realise you have arrived. Now it is time to enjoy.
Mullet Bay
Known to be one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. If you want white sand and turquoise blue waters then this is a must go. With the options of renting beach chairs and umbrellas at $5 each it’s a great place to spend the day. If you fancy a drink or bite to eat then there is the option of two “beach shacks” with an all day BBQ. Most importantly offering any cocktail you may desire, making it one of the most Instagrammable spots of Sint Maarten.
Yacht Club
Now this is an exciting one. For anyone who wants to see the rich and famous arrive in style and squeeze their superyachts through a very tight bridge, then spend an afternoon enjoying a cold one at the yacht club.
Some of these yachts will pass through this bridge with only inches to spare between the white paintwork and the concrete wall. To let you in on a little secret, not all of them make it through unscathed.
